Moradillo de Roa belongs to the Legaris Village Wines collection, which expresses the wealth, distinction and diversity of small towns in the Ribera del Duero, with each wine sharing its name with a village. They are all made from the same grape variety, Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), but grown in different areas with unique surroundings, soils and microclimates, which create completely different wines. Moradillo de Roa comes from vineyard located on a high plain at 973 metres of altitude. It is very authentic in profile: transmitting the extreme character of a very cold climate, on the limit of where grapes can ripen. The result is a very concentrated, intense and long-lasting wine. It is a wine in capital letters, one that always elicits a response. Validated by the critics, the International Wine Challenge 2020 considered it Spain's Best Red Wine. Very few wines enjoy this prized endorsement.

Alcoholic fermentation took place in a small, 2,000-litre open tank similar to a fermentation pool.
Alcoholic fermentation took place in a small, 2,000-litre open tank similar to a fermentation pool. It was allowed to take place spontaneously with wild yeasts, with the sole purpose of preserving the uniqueness of this plot. Our intervention was minimal (except for frequent manual punch downs) and the expression of the grape is at its maximum. We did not control fermentation temperature. Ageing took place for 19 months in 225-litre & 500-litre French barrels.

This wine is made exclusively with Tinta Fina grapes. The grapes come from twenty-year-old vines in a vineyard of about two hectares. It is located in Moradillo de Roa, a town belonging to the province of Burgos, situated at an altitude of 973 metres. The stony soils contribute minerality to the future wine while providing good drainage and retaining the diurnal heat to reflect it back to the vines at night.
