Agustí Vilaret (1820-1903), passionate cava producer by vocation, possessing the hard-working tenacity of the founders. It was he who invented Mont-Ferrant and set out the general philosophy of the brand. Testimony to his work speaks of his painstaking attention to the problems that plagued all of the early producers (the fining of the wines, mass explosions of bottles in the cellars), and also of the cava producer who was well informed as to the most modern machinery and tooling of his time, which he imported and installed in the cellars in Blanes.

Very bright and clean yellow color.

The bubbles reveal a delicious aromatic depth of citric fruits and smoky hints that combine with a mineral note towards the end which is provided by the Chardonnay.

The initial fruitiness becomes smoother, creamy and sweet, balancing out the excellent maturity the wine has acquired with time.

The Winery

Fresh from making his fortune in the Americas and with a mind full of ideas and ambitious projects, Agustí Vilaret founded the Mont-Ferrant winery in 1865. Thus, he bought Mas Ferrant in the town of Blanes (Girona) and with the aim of becoming a champagne maker he planted vineyards, built a new winery and acquired the necessary tools to make the first Mont-Ferrant cava. Since then, Mont-Ferrant cavas have stood out for developing a personality marked by deep acidity, great aging capacity and a character that is difficult to forget.
