This is the first rosé wine to be included in the Legaris Vinos de Pueblo collection, which aims to express the richness, uniqueness and diversity of the Ribera del Duero. In this 2021 vintage, we want to show a traditional wine production of the Ribera del Duero area, the claret rosé, made from two native grape varieties (Tinto fino and Albillo) from vineyards located in Olmedillo de Roa (Burgos).

To better appreciate the organoleptic characteristics of this wine, I recommend opening it 10 minutes before drinking and serving it at a temperature of 10 ºC, not too cold. This wine will have a good evolution in bottle during the next 2 - 3 years if kept in adequate conditions of conservation.

The Winery

Legaris is one of the D.O. Ribera del Duero's flagship wineries.  An innovative winery, it offers boutique, artisan wines made in a modern way.  Legaris lies in a privileged location, enjoying the D.O. Ribera del Duero's unique and exclusive climate.  The origin of its wines, the great wealth and variety of its soils, high quality raw materials and very careful winemaking combine to ensure that the wines from Legaris express and extol the unique character of the area.

Elaboration - Vinification

After manual selection on the belt, both varieties were vatted together in a stainless steel tank. They underwent a 24-hour pre-fermentation maceration and were then pressed. The first part of the alcoholic fermentation took place in a small stainless steel truncated cone-shaped tank. Halfway through alcoholic fermentation, the wine was racked into two concrete tanks, where fermentation was completed.

After racking and sulphiting, the wine was aged on the lees for 6 months in the same concrete tanks. Subsequently, the final blend was made and 4,400 numbered bottles of this wine were bottled in June 2022.

Vineyard - Viticulture

This wine has been made with the native varieties Tinto Fino (60%) and Albillo (40%) from two vineyards: Tinto Fino bush vines over 80 years old, on clay soil at an altitude of 840 meters, and Albillo vines 6 years old, on sandy loam soil, located at an altitude of 850 meters. Both plots were harvested by hand on October 2, 2021.

The wines of the 2021 vintage present a large amount of coloring matter. They are powerful and structured, with a very ripe nose (black fruits) and great volume on the palate, with especially vigorous tannins. This is undoubtedly a vintage with great cellaring potential that will be talked about for years to come.
