Ederra Crianza seeks fruit expression and the freshness of the wines, essential for oak aging wines. In Ederra Crianza, the Grenache variety is present, traditional in the Rioja coupages for wines aged with Tempranillo, giving the wine freshness and length, and improving its aging capacity.

Pairs perfectly well with creamy and semi-cured cheeses. Cold meats, mushrooms, legume dishesor a Spanish omelette, in addition to the classic pairing: meat dishes served with an aged Rioja.

A garnet-cherry colour of medium intensity with violet hues.

Aromas of ripe red fruit underlain with supple notes of vanilla, coconut and cocoa.

A very pleasant entry on the palate, fresh and an amiable finish.

The Winery

Founded in 1901 in the town of Haro’s legendary Station Quarter, Bodegas Bilbaínas is the longest-standing bottling winery in Rioja.  It also has the most extensive underground cellars in the region and a greater area of vineyards than any other winery in the town: 250 hectares of high quality vines, which supply the winery with its own grapes, ensuring that they can be processed quickly without losing their qualities.  Viña Pomal is its flagship brand, which embodies the Rioja Alta's best winemaking tradition. These are exceptional wines that have remained faithful to the classic style of authentic Rioja from the outset.

Elaboration - Vinification

Ederra seeks to bring out the fruitiness and freshness of its wines, absolutely essential for wines aged in oak.

After destemming and crushing, maceration takes place for approximately 15 days. The wine is then aged for 12 months in barrels of American oak, a traditional practice in the Rioja where aging in oak enhances the wine’s fresh and fruity character with toasty and spicy woody notes, polishing its tannins and rounding it off until it is ready for drinking.

Vineyard -Viticulture

Grown in vineyards located in the Upper Rioja, an area influenced by the Atlantic climate, planted on slopes with gravelly, relatively unfertile soils with their own particular texture.

These two characteristic features render wines with sufficient freshness to make vintage wines.
