The Denomination of Origin Ribera del Duero, as we know it today, arose after the initiative of a series of winegrowers and winemakers concerned with promoting the vineyards and the quality of Ribera del Duero wines at the beginning of the eighties. The implementation of new cultivation practices, the introduction of the most modern technologies for winemaking and rigorous control processes have made the D.O. Ribera del Duero a synonym of quality.
