Raimat Abadia is the most representative wine in the history and essence of Raimat, the oldest wine brand of the DO Costers del Segre. Inspired by the work and dedication with which the monks perform their tasks, this wine reflects the vocation, patience and know-how of the winery. The first Abadia was made in 1978 and since then it has remained the emblem of the cellar.
Intense cherry red with purple hues denoting its youth.
Complex aromas of ripe dark fruit and stewed prunes with notes of tobacco, set against a spicy background (pepper, clove, vanilla) and hints of dark chocolate.
Well-structured thanks to the power brought by the Cabernet yet with finesse and elegance, owed to the Tempranillo. Red and dark fruit flavours in the mouth, with a sweetish touch. Long aftertaste with a pleasant, spicy finish.
The history of Raimat goes back to 1914, when Manuel Raventós i Domènech acquired a plot of arid and unfertile land in a unique setting, converting it into what it is today: 2,245 hectares of 100% certified organic vineyards. Raimat is the expression of wines from Lleida, a land renowned for the quality of its fruit, where the continental climate means that the grapes from this estate give intense and flavourful wines. The winery is a pioneer in the use of the latest growing and winemaking technology, making a clear commitment to sustainable viticulture and to respecting the land and the environment.

When the grapes arrive at the winery, passes through a heat exchanger lowering the temperature to 15 °C, which was maintained for 24-48h for cold maceration that provide a more fruity and lively wine. When fermentation has finished, this wine is kept in stainless steel tanks for malolactic fermentation.
Selected grapes coming exclusively from the organic vineyards of Raimat.
Selected grapes coming exclusively from the organic vineyards of Raimat. Shallow soils, 40-90 cm, thick texture, clay-loam. A vegetal cover of autochthonous species is maintained to favor the biological richness of the soils, to avoid the erosion and the compaction. Controlled deficit irrigation (RDI) techniques are applied by applying water stress in certain vegetative stages of the vine cycle to favor the concentration of color, aromas and flavors. Integrated pest control is also carried out without the use of insecticides. The control of the cluster moth is done by means of sexual confusion techniques. Low mildew pressure and control of powdery mildew with sulfur mainly. Do not apply antibotrytis.
